FrontierNav Weekly: 19 October 2020
Changes
Archives and Autosaves
- Exported Archives can now be re-imported.
- Changes no longer need to re-applied, the graph within the Archive is assumed to be correct.
- Archives are now compressed to greatly reduce size.
- Open Changes are autosaved locally every 10 seconds as Archives to avoid accidentally lost changes.
- A maximum of 5 autosaves is available per game, the oldest autosave is removed automatically.
- A list of recent autosaves is available when there are no open changes.
- Each autosave can be: Restored, Exported and Discarded.
- Open Changes are no longer automatically applied on reloads.
- They must be manually restored from Archives (either autosaves or manual exports).
- This is to avoid the delay when reloading pages and conflicting changes between tabs which causes a lot of confusing behaviour.
Map Notes
- Modified language surrounding Map Notes to make it clear they're personal and not visible to anyone else.
- Map Notes now have labels using the first few characters of the note body.
- Custom Markers can now be placed with left-click.
- Use right-click when it overlaps with other markers to avoid clicking them.
Layout
- Restyled Navigation to be larger to match common navigation sizes on other apps.
- Spaced out sidebar and main section to show they are clearly separate and not overlapping.
- Footers are now hidden in floating windows.
- Fixed various scrolling bugs with floating windows
Accounts
- Game Preferences are now stored remotely.
- This means spoiler preferences can be shared across devices.
- New accounts without a display name will now default to 'Drifter' rather than 'No Name #123abc'
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
- Added Affinity Chart items for all DLC Blades (contributed by cjackal)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Added all Shrines (not on map, contributed by sm3dw)
New Games
- Added Yakuza 0

Next Up
Now that I've acted on the Change Request feedback from last week, it's time to get back to this month's goal: improving navigation between FrontierNav's features.
A few weeks back I mentioning Notifications. While Notifications will help people jump back to where they left off, it won't really help with initial discovery. So I'll hold off on that for now.
I'll be focusing on breadcrumbs next. Essentially, make it easier for people to see where they are in FrontierNav and its general structure. That sounds a bit boring, but I have some interesting ideas on how it can integrate with maps, data tables and everything else. It's more just implementing breadcrumbs. The layout tweaks this week was in preperation for that. I'll have more to share next week.
Thanks for reading.
